Overview

Elliptical trainers provide an effective cardiovascular workout that combines upper and lower body flexibility and coordination into one impact-free motion. By emulating the natural motion of your foot while supporting your heel throughout the stride, elliptical trainers are much easier on your knees and joints. In addition to accommodating a wide variety of users with its lengthened 18 inch/46 centimeter stride, the Schwinn 418 Elliptical Trainer also incorporates an articulating footplate, which follows the natural motion of your foot and supports your heel throughout the entire stride motion. Additional features of Schwinn's 418 Elliptical Trainer include a grip heart-rate monitoring and a high-inertia drive system using an oversized flywheel and Poly V-belt. The quiet magnetic resistance Eddy Current Brake provides a smooth ride. The more than ten workout programs include: rolling, valley, fat burn, ramp, plateau, intervals, mountain, heart rate, and manual mode. An LCD display shows time, speed, distance, revolutions per minute, resistance level, calories and calories per hour, load, and heart rate and course profile.

Had it for a year now and it's a good machine.
I've had this unit for a year. It is still in good shape. It works very well. It is just right for home. It has been sturdy and hasn't had any problems in one year. I use it about 3-5 times a week for 30-45 minutes. I'm giving it 4 stars because it isn't a stellar machine. Do not expect a Precor or whatever you've been using at the gym. This is not that quality, but it also isn't a $4000 machine. It is a great elliptical for the price!! .... Read more

418 Elliptical a terrific machine
I purchased a Schwinn 418 Elliptical Trainer early 2008 after reading lot of good review about it at Amazon. After couple month of using it the machine is working just fine. Easy to assembly, no missing part.
Me I my wife use the machine 1 hours a day five days a week. It is very smooth, and dependable but kind of noisy.
Over all, it's been a terrific machine, no complain.

Pretty Decent
I ordered this elliptical because of the positive rating it was given on CR. The price on Amazon was the best around by at least $200 and with free shipping, it was a no-brainer. The machine seems pretty sturdy and well-made and was easy for me to assemble. I've enjoyed many workouts on it and I'm sure I will enjoy many more. The different programs keep it interesting and I can continue to increase intensity as I get into better shape.

Honestly - It's Junk
I very seldom review products, but this one has been such a letdown I felt obligated to let others know my experience. I bought this because of a Consumer Reports recommendation and although I've had very good luck with their recommendations in the past, they missed it on this one. Without boring you with a bunch of detail I can sum it up with 200 dollars in repairs within the year.
